I read "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold about a year ago. When I found out they were making a movie out of it, I knew the music had to be powerful stuff. This book is increbly heart-wrenching. But it is also incredibly hopeful. Thus, my next installment will feature the hopeful component. In the meantime, enjoy "Hospital" by Lydia. "Hungry Like the Wolf" - Duran Duran

Other than being female protagonists in food-themed movies, Catherine Zeta Jones in No Reservations, and Amy Adams in Julie and Julia have nothing in common. Unlike Jones' character who is obsessed with order, Adams' character is in search of breaking the monotony in her life. While the No Reservations soundtrack is filled with songs of the classical and jazz genres, Duran Duran's Hungry Like the Wolf suites Julie and Julia perfectly.

"The Trial of the Century" - The French Kicks

This song is fairly old but its age only testifies to how catchy it is. Its been in my head since 2004! And I finally have a suggestion for its use: "Looking for Alaska." Using quotes from the end of the book, this video proves that there is no better place for the song than the movie's ending:

Metric's "Police and the Private" would work well in the new romantic comedy, "Definitely, Maybe": "As a father (Ryan Reynolds) goes through a difficult divorce, his young daughter (Abigail Breslin) starts questioning him on his entire romantic history. So, he tells her the tale of the three great loves of his life and she must guess which woman eventually became her mother. Is it the sweet-as-pie girl-next-door Emily (Elizabeth Banks)? His best friend (Isla Fisher)? Or the flaky journalist (Rachel Weisz)?" -Movies.com

I discovered this band when I first started working for Black Sand Music, a music placement agency who takes care of the band's licensing. "Heart Full of Black" would work great in "Wanted," based upon Mark Millar's graphic novel and starring Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, and James McAvoy. "Fidelity" - Regina Spektor

This isn't really a suggestion to use a song. The song I would have suggested was used!!! Did I copy them or did they copy me? My video was up first!!! Compare the following trailer with another one of my O.C. music videos! (notice the identical scenes in which they both try on wedding dresses; notice the part in The O.C. video in which we hear, "suppose I kept on singing love songs just to break my own fall" and Summer sits watching Julie's wedding)

My love for movie scores is just as great as my love for soundtracks. Because a movie score composer only begins a song once he is given a movie, I have decided to do somthing new - use already existing scores and place them into different scenes. I have used Mark Isham's "A Really Good Cloak" in "The O.C." (Its fun to see how the scene changes when you move the gun shot to a different moment in the song.)

I think the "P.S. I Love You" soundtrack will be incomplete without Leigh Nash's "Ocean Size Love." The movie and the song are soul mates! If the whimsical sound doesn't convince you, listen to the lyrics and you can't help but agree.

Billie Holiday - "God Bless the Child"

I would use a remixed version of this song for "Fierce People." If I were to use only a section of this song (despite it being perfect in its entirety), I would use the bridge. It sounds just haunting enough to match the movie's title and overall feel.

The music video to this song can be a bit distracting if your listening to it for the first time. But this song would be perfect for the new upcoming Josh Schwartz teen soap, "Gossip Girl."
